Operator calculators

Transparent calculators for the numbers operators actually look up: efficiency, downtime, density, heat, autonomy, emissions and cost. Every formula is printed beside its result, and every tool states what it leaves out.

Calculators

  • PUE Calculator — Calculate power usage effectiveness from IT load and support power, with DCiE, annual facility energy and the electricity cost of the overhead.
  • Uptime Calculator — Convert an availability percentage into allowed downtime per year, month and week, then check how many incidents that budget survives at your MTTR.
  • Rack Density Calculator — Work out kW per rack, watts per U, amps per feed and the breaker size a rack needs, from a total IT load and a cabinet count.
  • Cooling Load Calculator — Convert an IT load into BTU per hour, tons of refrigeration and the airflow in CFM a room needs, with a design margin and a unit count.
  • UPS Runtime Calculator — Estimate UPS battery autonomy in minutes from load, DC bus voltage, string capacity and depth of discharge, with the high-rate derate applied.
  • Colocation Cost Calculator — Model monthly and annual colocation cost from contracted power, rack fees and cross-connects, and see the real cost per kW and per kWh delivered.
  • Carbon & Water Calculator — Turn IT load, PUE and grid intensity into annual CO2e and water use, with CUE and WUE reported beside the absolute figures.
  • Generator Runtime Calculator — Estimate diesel generator fuel burn and runtime from load and tank size, with the load factor, refuelling interval and 72-hour target checked.

How these work

Every calculator prints its formula beside the result and names the constants it uses, so the arithmetic can be checked rather than trusted. Nothing is submitted anywhere: the values stay in the browser, and there is no sign-up, email gate or saved history.

Each one also states its boundary. An estimate is only useful when you know what it excludes, and these exclude a great deal — ambient conditions, part-load behaviour, manufacturer discharge curves, protection coordination and every site-specific constraint that turns an estimate into a design.

When a result raises the next question, the page hands the reader down into the Academy lesson that explains the mechanism, the lab that lets them stress it, and the comparison that settles the choice behind it.
