ATS and STS transfer roles
Automatic and static transfer equipment serve different source and timing contexts; neither creates an independent source by itself.
How it works
Monitor acceptable sources and move an eligible load using the switching technology and sequence defined for that application.
Where it fits
Loads with two suitable sources and an engineered transfer envelope, protection scheme and operating sequence.
Where it breaks
Transfer compatibility, synchronization, fault behavior or the load’s tolerance for interruption is unknown.
Tradeoff register
- Automates source changes
- Switching conditions constrain operation
- Controls and sensing join the dependency graph
Interactive teaching model
This card connects to the power lab. Its output is a bounded calculation or an illustrative directional model, not measured site data or a commissioned design result.
Source register
These sources support the teaching summary. Use current standards, site engineering and authority approval for real work.
